Published in 1909, this is an account of Shackleton's record-breaking Nimrod expedition to Antarctica.

It is a rare deluxe first edition with signatures from members of those who reached the shore. The book also comes with The Antarctic Book and Winter Quarters.

This amazing set of volumes has over 270 illustrations and contains maps and diagrams. For those interested in the history of the world's exploration, this is a fine and enviable collector's item.

Long established dealer Shapero Rare Books is one of those with a huge selection of books on travel, exploration and mountaineering. The book pictured is one example and will delight anyone interested in military history. It chronicles a 1759 military campaign in Martinique and Guadeloupe and author Richard Gardiner proudly declared it 'unembellished'. Beautifully printed by Baskerville of Birmingham in 1762, it is priced at £7,500.
