SAFARI SPECTACLE
Safari is the Swahili word for a journey, or expedition. And in the company of knowledgeable and passionate local guides, it can be a journey like no other.
When planning a safari holiday, it’s worth considering the effect of the seasons. The grass can be long in some areas in the wet season, making it more difficult to see animals. Also, the wildlife will disperse during the rains, as they are not so dependent on water holes. So the optimum safari season usually includes winter (May-August) and the hot spring months of September and October. The climate is comfortable in the dry winter months of May, June, July and August. The East Africa migration, when two million wildebeest, Thomson’s gazelles and zebra journey from Serengeti in Tanzania to Masai Mara in Kenya, takes place in August and September. Book early for this unrivalled spectacle!

POA
Over its 83-year history, Londolozi game reserve has built up a formidable team of rangers, trackers and naturalists with great wisdom and knowledge of the site's 16,000 hectares. In addition to photographic safaris, choose yoga, moonlight walks or day trips visiting nearby communities.
KRUGER NATIONAL PARK SAFARI
SABI SABI
POA
Set in the 65,000 hectare Sabi Sand Wildtuin in the Kruger National Park, Sabi Sabi has been offering outstanding safari holidays for 30 years. It now has lodges ranging from romantic to contemporary, to environmentally sensitive, with some suites having private plunge pool and butler services.
KALAHARI PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
A horseback safari is a wonderful way to discover South Africa’s largest private game reserve and allows you to get close to wildlife, but you can always choose the conventional Land Rover option.
Horses are available to suit all levels of rider, and from this unintrusive viewpoint you can get close to buffalo, kudu and zebra.
Tswalu takes conservation as its absolute priority. No more than 30 guests at a time can discover the beauty of this Kalahari landscape and its diverse wildlife. The guides are fully knowledgeable about Kalahari ecology.

High factor sunscreen goes without saying; eye drops are also useful as the air can contain fine-particle dust. Wearing long sleeved shirts and trousers before 10am and after 3pm makes a big difference in the battle against mosquitoes. Of course, you’ll pack a bush hat!
