Crime prevention and home security have become much more of a necessity rather than a luxury in today’s world. Certainly it seems that the bigger and better the house, the more likely the prospect of unwanted intruders. More and more people are taking matters into their own hands when protecting their property but there are more comprehensive ways to keep your home safe.

The obvious starting point is your ingress security and making sure all your gates, doors and windows have good locks, are solid and securely fitted. The next step is to install an alarm system of which there are two main types; a noise only alarm or remote signalling alarms. The latter is connected to an approved central monitoring station and can include police response. The noise alarms can either simply sound a deterrent alert or also be connected to a monitoring station but these do not have police response availability unless a witness has seen and reported the offence is still in progress.

Other options include full CCTV monitoring and Access Control Systems. For an enhanced solution, guard dogs and security patrols can also be added to these services for complete peace of mind.

There are many security companies across the UK but it is most important to choose those which are approved by the National Security Inspectorate and ensure all products meet the following British Standards: 4737/BS EN 50131, BS7042 or BS 6799 Class VI.
